APPLE PIE DONUTS (Cheat Version) Skip the dough, make with bread!! I’m using @abbottsbakery Rustic White to make these golden crispy apple pie donuts. Absolutely bursting with warm cinnamon-spiced apples and rolled in a lil cinnamon sugar. A little shortcut to something outrageously delicious! INGREDIENTS @abbottsbakery Rustic White
1 batch apple pie filling, chilled
2 eggs
Neutral oil, for frying
Caster sugar
Ground cinnamon METHOD Lay 4-6 slices of Abbott’s Bakery Rustic White onto a chopping board. Scoop a generous dollop of chilled apple pie filling (not too big!) into the centre of each slice. Cover with another slice of bread and carefully use a round cookie cutter to cut out donuts, sealing the edges as you go (you may have to manipulate the top slice a little so the bread doesn’t tear. Take your time!). Heat a few inches of neutral oil in a saucepan. Set up a coating station: whisk 2 eggs in a bowl and combine caster sugar with ground cinnamon in a separate shallow dish. Once the oil reaches 180°C, coat each donut lightly in egg, then fry for a few minutes, turning until golden brown on both sides. Drain briefly, then roll in cinnamon sugar while still warm. Best eaten immediately, preferably with a scoop of vanilla ice cream! #ad #abbottsbakery
