This might ruffle a few feathersā€¦ I donā€™t believe women should automatically be prescribed HRT simply because theyā€™ve entered perimenopause. And before anyone jumps in with ā€œbut HRT changed my lifeā€ - wonderful. Iā€™m genuinely glad it did. This isnā€™t about taking that away from you. But I know you could be feeling better. Because I see it on the daily. Itā€™s about asking some questions that I donā€™t think weā€™re asking loudly enough. Where is the long-term research following women who START hormone replacement while theyā€™re still menstruating and continue for the next 10, 15 or 20 years? There isnā€™t any. And what happens when we treat a natural hormonal transition as something that automatically needs replacing? And why arenā€™t we spending just as much time teaching women how to support their nervous systems, metabolic health, sleep, stress response and changing hormonal needs? Yes, HRT may be a tool in your toolkit. But it may only take you so far. Women deserve solutions from debilitating symptoms. But perimenopause isnā€™t a hormone deficiency diagnosis simply because youā€™ve turned 40. Your hormones are changing. Your body is adapting. And there is so much we can do to support that process. I see women every week who have been made to feel terrified of whatā€™s coming. That their bodies are failing them. That theyā€™re destined for weight gain, poor sleep, anxiety and a long list of symptoms unless they intervene. I donā€™t believe fear should be driving these decisions. I believe in informed choices, individualised care and giving women the tools to understand their bodies before assuming thereā€™s only one solution. And if youā€™ve chosen HRT? This isnā€™t an attack on your decision. Itā€™s a challenge to the idea that every woman needs to make the same one. **Itā€™s really not as hard as theyā€™re having you think it is.** Follow along if you want a different conversation about perimenopause.
I contacted a number of people when I came across videos of them interviewing Sam Vaknin. I am always polite and encourage them to examine the evidence. NONE replied, apart from this lady, an author, filmmaker and animal lover. Good start! However I had to decline her request for interview. She watched the documentary. Claimed there wasnā€™t enough evidence. I had already told her in a voice note that the podcast had all the evidence and testimony etc and that more victims were coming forward. She seemed more interested in my former agency than finding out about the allegations of fraud, sexual abuse of therapy patients, knowingly infecting them with HPV and encouraging them with ending their lives. I explained Iā€™m no longer represented by them and had removed it from my profiles. But instead of listening to the podcast she had gone on to my rarely looked at website and on the last page thereā€™s a watermark logo of the agency. I thanked her for informing me and promptly had it removed. Then later she accused me of lying about my agent demanding ā€œwhat is this really about?ā€. I was in the middle of mega stressful country move, and had little patience so I sent her screenshots of my emails with the agent. Something I now regret. I should have just ignored her. Then another weird message. I didnā€™t reply and put it down to either she was upset I didnā€™t do an interview or I was not going to benefit her with connections to former talent agency. And tonight, someone sent me her interview with Sam posted TWO days ago. I understand a lot of people may quietly delete Sam content, some will leave it for the clicks, but to KNOWINGLY seek him out for a new interview when she knows what he is accused of is MIND BOGGLING. I donā€™t like blasting women. But I absolutely will continue to do so. Including Kathleen Saxton clinicwithk psychotherapist who called him one of the best professors in the world and featured him in her book. To risk your career and reputation to protect a sexual predator when itā€™s YOUR JOB to provide therapy to victims of abuseā€¦Yes I am angry. Because every person who platforms him, is risking womenā€™s lives #samvaknin
