the most magnificent mountains in the USA…and people keep flying to the dolomites?! 📍 Wind River Range, Wyoming Share this with someone who didn’t know we had this here❤️🇺🇸 Don’t get us wrong…there are beautiful mountains alllll over the world! But it is a shame that people will buy plane tickets to faraway countries every single year without ever realizing what they’re looking for might just be a few states away🥹 🥾ROUTE DETAILS We mainly followed the “Cirque of the Towers to Fremont Loop Trail” on @alltrails, with a couple deviations👇 DAY 1 Big Sandy Trailhead ➡️ Billy’s Lake 13 miles Longest day, but the most gradual in regard to elevation gain. Make sure you stop at Shadow Lake! DAY 2 Billy’s Lake ➡️ Lonesome Lake + day hike to Bear Lakes 10 miles This day started with an immediate climb up the infamous Texas Pass. Then, we descended into the Cirque. We found a campsite just over .25 miles from Lonesome Lake (this is required by law), then day hiked to Bear Lakes! They are beautiful and we would highly recommend this addition! DAY 3 Lonesome Lake ➡️ Big Sandy Trailhead 11 miles The last day requires a bit of elevation gain to get up Jackass Pass at the beginning, then you are descending most of the way back to the car. We did deviate from the regular route on one section towards the end of the trail, where we took a fork to pass Diamond and V Lakes along the way. 📅 WHEN TO GO The best time to take this trip is typically mid-July through September, depending on snow fall. We went over Labor Day weekend and had perfect conditions and no mosquitoes, which can be bad earlier on in the summer. ‼️ IMPORTANT INFO + TIPS There are grizzly bears in the area, so come prepared with bear spray and bear-safe food containers. Bring bug spray if you go earlier in the summer! Do not drink out of Lonesome Lake (it is contaminated)💩🤢 Remember to leave no trace and keep this place beautiful!! • • • Backpacking trails, hikes in Wyoming, bucket list destinations, Winds, Wind Rivers, best backpacking spots
