🔥 Prescribed fire in action!
The @fishlakenf and @utahffsl are working together on the Moroni Peak Project, east of Salina and south of I-70 in Sevier County.
Yesterday, crews successfully burned 500 acres using hand ignition and drones to carefully treat smaller areas beneath ponderosa pine.
This work:
🌲 Reduces hazardous fuels
🏘️ Helps protect nearby communities
🦌 Improves wildlife habitat
💧 Supports healthy watersheds
🔥 Builds a more resilient landscape
Next, crews will shift their focus to slash pile burning using a helitorch.
