The fabric of Dallas.

“Lately, I've played a sexually active nerd for The Paper, a bitchy political Barbie for Brothers, and a half-bug, half-exterminator monster thing for Twisted Metal.” That’s @thelisagilroy for you.

The 37-year-old Alberta, Canada, native first made a name for herself where most rising comedians do these days: on TikTok. While also putting in the live improv work at The Groundlings and Upright Citizens Brigade in Los Angeles, she quickly earned a dedicated following with her viral sketch videos about high school archetypes and menstruation, and eventually landed major TV and streaming roles.

“I like making disposable things, characters you do once and throw away,” Gilroy tells us. “Keep the stakes low and the fun high.”

I am heartbroken to learn of the passing of one of my heroes, #DoloresHuerta. An organizer until the day she died, Dolores dedicated her life to fighting to improve the lives of workers. Hearing and seeing her speak filled me with awe—even into her 90s with no notes. May you rest in peace and power, Dolores.
