There is a hand sticking out from under this carpet.
Legend says it belongs to Sophia Dorothea, the wife King George I imprisoned for life after she tried to escape with a Swedish count. When James Thornhill asked where she should appear in the royal family portrait, George supposedly told him to put her under the carpet.

Go for the ceiling. Then find the West Wall and look beneath the painted carpet at the bottom of the steps.
