One of my favourite parts of attending events is the opportunity to connect with people.

The person you happen to sit beside.

The little conversation that starts with, “So what do you do?”

The person who tells you something you didn’t know.

The exchange of contacts.

The realisation that everyone in the room is figuring something out, pursuing something, or working towards something.

I met some really amazing people at the Aston University postgraduate seminar in Abuja, and I’m glad I didn’t just attend and leave.

I actually connected.
