Dorian Reed’s CALLING ALL CATS! opened last week, as part of the launch of @nexussfbay, and a continuation of MoAD’s Emerging Artist Program (EAP).
Dorian Reid has built a world filled with family, musicians, activists, neighbors, historical figures, beloved animals, and cats of every color.
Reid’s ceramics claims an inheritance through her ceramics, paintings, prints, textiles, furniture, and protest signs. Her family history has become folklore. Portrait records can ship. Art enters public life.
At the center of CALL ALL CATS! is the black cat, a figure long followed by superstition and suspicion. In Reid’s hands, the cat carries dignity, wit, tenderness, and agency.
Curated by Key Jo Lee.
Designed by McCalman.Co and The Falcon & The Filly.

Dorian’s work is so heartfelt. She’s also doing a workshop in November. Thanks for sharing it here! Cc @niadartcenter
