From being misunderstood to finding my tribe so grateful to have been invited to @parishilton ‘s #unstoppable ADHD creator summit at her home. I cried so much, learned so much, and healed meeting so many likeminded ADHD and neurodivergent creators like myself. Happy ADHD awareness month! Let’s celebrate this superpower that makes us resilient. I loved the panel where @staceybendet the founder of @aliceandolivia encouraged parents to celebrate and support their children’s strengths. #adhdawareness #adhd #adhdawarenessmonth #latina
Catherine Wieland got on Britain’s welfare rolls in 2021. With a history of emotional trauma, she was too anxious to go outside or carry out simple tasks like washing herself, she told the government. Soon, she was receiving about £700, or $1,000, a month in disability benefits. And, it turns out, going outside quite a bit. Using a taxpayer-subsidized program for those with disabilities, Wieland paid a small deposit for free use of a BMW, which she used to regularly visit the hair salon, dine out at restaurants, attend a Brighton pride parade and visit an amusement park. According to court reports in her fraud conviction, she also flew to Cancún, Mexico, where she posted pictures of herself ziplining and riding a quad motorbike. Wieland’s case is an extreme example of a new reality in the U.K.: Disability payouts are no longer just for those most in need; they have become a financial crutch for a large swath of the population as wages stagnate and prices rise. It’s blowing up Britain’s welfare bill, hamstringing its politicians and imperiling its long-term financial stability. Not including healthcare, the country will spend more than £100 billion this year on all types of welfare benefits for the sick and disabled, about a third more than defense spending. One benefit, created to help those with disabilities be more mobile, allows people to give up part of their welfare cash handout in return for a new car lease every three years. It now accounts for around one in every seven new car sales in the U.K. Among those who got new cars last year: 40 people whose primary medical condition was tennis elbow, 50 with wheat intolerance and 320 with dyslexia, according to government figures. The scale of the payout has become a scandal. No other western country has seen such a rise in disability claims. Read more at the link in our bio. 📷: @dominicwhisson for @wsjphotos
Our A frame is for sale 💞🥺 I can’t believe the time has come to say goodbye 😭 This was the very first home Sentry and I ever owned together. Our little A-frame tucked away in the mountains of Lake Tahoe. And while it might not look like much to some people, to us, it was EVERYTHING. When we first moved to Tahoe, owning a home here felt like such a far-fetched dream. We had spent years moving around, living in a van, and trying to figure out what the heck to do with our lives. And somehow by the grace of god we got lucky enough to close on a tiny little A frame in our favorite mountain town in the world! I truly believe this A Frame had a huge role in making us who we are today. It’s where we finally learned what it felt like to put down roots after years of being on the move. Where we found community and some of our favorite people in the world. Where we worked toward goals that felt impossible, celebrated the smallest victories, and made some of our absolute favorite memories together 💗 This tiny little house QUICKLY became so much more than just a place to live. It became our home 🏠 As excited as we are for this next chapter, there’s something really bittersweet about having to say goodbye. I know there will always be a little piece of our hearts left here and I can only hope she has the same affect on whoever gets her next. To our first house. Our little mountain cabin. The place that made Tahoe feel like home. Thank you for everything. 🥺🤎 If you are interested, the listing is at the link in our bio 💞 #aframe #laketahoe #mountainhome #cabin #aframecabin
Ashley Gause and her crew terrorized more than 40 victims, robbing hundreds of thousands of dollars’ worth of narcotics and cellphones. She even posed with a gun they used. But her victims stood up, took the stand, and helped put her behind bars for the next 11 YEARS!
