Exhibition Announcement!
We're just two short weeks away from opening Grid Makers by Edmonton artist @kimmccollumart.
Deeply inspired by weaving, the practice, people and history, Grid Makers features dozens of paintings and mixed media works. Within Grid Makers, figures weave, knit and breathe new worlds into being. They unmake themselves and their surroundings, remaking it into something new.
Grids grow and expand across each scene, some floating like balloons, others spilling across the floor, some becoming part of the walls and furniture. In this surreal world, it often becomes difficult to separate the figures from their work from their surroundings, challenging the assumption that there are divisions between maker and creation.
The works are subtle, textured and detailed, demanding time and attention.
Be sure to stop by the Art Gallery of St. Albert between October 22 and November 21 to experience Grid Makers in person.
