If you’ve ever been told to just let them cry it out so they “learn” to sleep…

Please know: babies don’t fall asleep this way because they self-soothed.

They fell asleep because their brain went into shutdown mode.

And that is not the same thing.

Dr. Gabor Maté puts it plainly: when babies are left alone to cry, it’s not just a parenting strategy - it’s a trauma.

Night after night of not being responded to wires the brain to expect that their needs won’t be met.

This is not about blaming parents.

It’s about questioning a system that tells exhausted mums to override their instincts, ignore their baby’s cries, and call it “sleep training.”

(Even though we’d never treat adults this way.)

Sleep is a biological function.

Connection is a biological need.

And no - meeting that need doesn’t “spoil” your baby. It protects their nervous system and lays the foundation for emotional resilience.

So if you’re holding your baby to sleep, rocking, feeding, or just staying close at night - You’re not creating bad habits.

You’re creating safety.

And that matters more than any “sleep schedule” ever could.

I’ve always been fascinated by the majesty of the Andean condor. A magnificent bird, capable of soaring to extraordinary heights and looking out over our Andes from above.

As a designer, I wanted to capture that greatness in a boot. I worked with its colors, textures, and volumes to express its strength and elegance, but above all, to carry a piece of our Peruvian identity through my work.

And to think that an inspiration born in our mountains ended up walking the streets of New York is something that fills me with pride. 🇵🇪🗽

Because that’s what I strive for with every creation: to show the world just how much Peruvian design has to offer.

And you, what do you think of my interpretation of our Andean condor? I’d love to hear your thoughts. 🤎

Siempre me ha impresionado la majestuosidad del cóndor andino. Un ave imponente, capaz de elevarse a alturas extraordinarias y contemplar nuestros Andes desde lo más alto.

Como diseñador, quise trasladar esa grandeza a una bota. Trabajé sus colores, texturas y volúmenes buscando representar su fuerza y elegancia, pero sobre todo, llevar un pedacito de nuestra identidad peruana a través de mi trabajo.

Y pensar que una inspiración que nació en nuestras montañas terminó recorriendo las calles de Nueva York es algo que me llena de orgullo. 🇵🇪🗽

Porque eso es lo que busco con cada una de mis creaciones: demostrar que el diseño peruano tiene muchísimo por mostrarle al mundo.

Y a ustedes, ¿qué les pareció esta interpretación de nuestro cóndor andino? Los leo. 🤎
