What if the problem was never the candy? đŹ
We spend so much energy trying to make sure kids donât eat âtoo muchâ sugar.
We hide it. Restrict it. Make them finish dinner before they can have it. Tell them theyâve had enough. Save it for special occasions.
All with the best intentions.
But sometimes, the more power we give candy, the more powerful it becomes.
When a child learns this food is special, limited, and I donât know when Iâll get it again, of course theyâre going to want it.
What if instead of teaching kids to fear sweets, we gave them opportunities to experience them without all the urgency?
Candy can be exciting.â¨Candy can taste really good.â¨Candy can be part of Halloween.â¨And candy can also just be⌠food.
Because raising kids with a peaceful relationship with food isnât about teaching them to make the ârightâ choice around candy.
Itâs giving them space to experience food without guilt, morality, or shame attached to it đ
