We’re a “skip the small talk” kind of team 👋🏼

So let’s be honest about what it’s like to work with Karuna ⬇️

You won’t be handed another food rule or told to just “try harder.”
You won’t be weighed, measured, or judged.

You will be met with curiosity. With compassion. With care that honors your lived experience.

Here’s what that looks like in practice:

💛 You’ll meet with a dietitian who gets it. Someone who listens deeply and meets you where you are
💛 Some sessions are practical. We’ll talk blood sugar, gut health, and what to eat when everything feels like too much
💛 Others are slower - space to breathe, reflect, and untangle years of pressure and perfectionism
💛 You’ll never be told to ignore your hunger, earn your meals, or push through your body’s signals
💛 We’ll focus on tools that feel safe, doable, and supportive for your real life

Because healing your relationship with food shouldn’t feel like another thing to get right.

✨ If you’re ready for care that actually feels like care...

In a nutshell?

Working with us is NOTHING like what you think seeing a dietitian is.

Because most people imagine…
🚫Stepping on a scale every week.
🚫Being handed a bland meal plan you hate
🚫Hearing about all the foods you “shouldn’t” eat

Yeah… that’s not us. At all 💁🏻‍♀️

Here’s what actually happens when you work with a Karuna dietitian:

✨ We meet you exactly where you’re at. No shame, no judgment
✨ We help you fuel your workouts so you don’t crash halfway through
✨ We unpack the guilt you’ve been carrying around food (and help you ditch it)
✨ We get creative finding meals that work when ADHD, busy schedules, or low energy make cooking feel impossible
✨ And yes, we celebrate snack wins. Even the desk drawer kind.

If you’re ready for a new approach, one built on compassion, support, and food freedom, we’re here to make it happen 🥳💚

💌 And the best part? We work with most major insurance plans, so your sessions might even be completely covered.

Visit our website or send us a DM to schedule a free discovery call.

Fiber has officially entered its main-character era.

And as dietitians, we’re in a slightly awkward position here because we LOVE fiber 😂

But nutrition has a funny way of turning “this is helpful” into “therefore I should do as much of it as humanly possible.”

We’ve watched the same thing happen with protein.

So here’s your reminder: a nutrient can be important without needing to dominate every meal, snack, bar, wrap, and brownie you eat.

This is one of the hardest parts of eating disorder recovery 🤍

Wanting something different while still feeling deeply attached to the thing that has felt familiar, protective, or safe.

You can be exhausted by your ED and still be afraid of gaining weight.

You can want more freedom and still feel pulled toward old behaviors.

You can know recovery matters and still wish you didn’t have to do the scary parts of it.

That ambivalence doesn’t mean you’re failing at recovery. It means there are two very real parts of you speaking at once.

Sometimes the next step isn’t feeling completely ready. It’s letting the part of you that wants more from life have a little more say 💚

If you’re stuck in that push-pull right now, our eating disorder dietitians can help you work through it without expecting you to have everything figured out first.

Menopause nutrition gets LOUD online 😅

Cut carbs. Eat less. Buy the supplements. Fix your hormones.

Meanwhile, the things that actually matter tend to be a lot less flashy.

✔️ Getting enough to eat.
✔️ Supporting muscle.
✔️ Paying attention to bone health.
✔️ Getting fiber in consistently.
✔️ Making meals that help you feel nourished, satisfied, and able to function well.

None of that requires you to fear food or start micromanaging every bite.

And your body changing during menopause does not automatically mean you need to start eating less.

If anything, this is a time when supporting your body well matters a LOT.

COUCH WORKOUT 🛋️👏🏼

If your brain hears “workout” and immediately pictures driving to the gym, finding an hour, changing clothes, and basically rearranging your entire day…

@coachshannonpitcock would like a word 😂

For this one, your couch is the equipment.

A few strength moves. Very little setup. And you can do the whole thing without leaving your living room.

We love this kind of movement because it makes exercise feel way more realistic.

You do not need the perfect routine or a gym membership to build strength.

And if you’re thinking, “Okay, but I still have no idea what to do on my own” 👀

That’s where personal training can help.

Our trauma-informed personal trainers build workouts around your body, your goals, your schedule, and the equipment you have at home.

And depending on your plan, insurance may even cover your sessions 👏🏼

Missing your period can be really easy to brush off.

Especially if you’re active, stressed, busy, or used to pushing through.

But a missing or irregular period can be a sign that your body doesn’t have enough energy available to support everything it’s trying to do.

❌ So no, losing your period is not something we want to normalize as “just part of being active.”

If your cycle has gone missing or become irregular, it’s worth looking at the full picture.

And if you need help untangling food, training, recovery, stress, and fueling?

That is exactly the kind of thing our dietitians can help with 💚

Fall changes more than the temperature 🍂

As we lose daylight and it starts getting dark earlier, changes in light exposure and eventually the time change can affect our circadian rhythms, sleep, and energy.

Life tends to shift at the same time.

Kids are back in school, summer routines disappear, schedules fill up, we spend less time outside, and colder weather can change how often or even how we move.

For some people, the change in seasons can also bring noticeable shifts in mood, motivation, appetite, and energy, including symptoms of seasonal affective disorder.

And all of that can change the way we feed and care for ourselves, sometimes without us even realizing it.

This is why our dietitians care about so much more than what’s on your plate.

Sometimes nutrition support isn’t about finding another thing to optimize. It’s having someone help you notice what’s changed and figure out how to support yourself here, instead of expecting your body to operate exactly the same way it did three months ago 💚

✨ Our dietitians offer virtual, weight-inclusive nutrition counseling and accept most major insurance plans. Visit the link in our bio to learn more.

Introducing our Crockpot Meal Series because sometimes the best dinner plan is the one you thought about eight hours ago 🙌🏼👏🏼

🤤🫘 First up: White Chicken Chili!

This is exactly the kind of meal we love for busy weeks.

Toss everything into the crockpot, go live your life, and come back to a warm, satisfying dinner that required very little from you.

And don’t underestimate the toppings 👀

Avocado, shredded cheese, sour cream, tortilla chips, cilantro, lime… this is absolutely a make-your-bowl-how-you-want-it situation.

Make a big batch for dinner, keep the leftovers for lunch, or freeze some for the week when even turning on the crockpot feels ambitious.

Our kids are learning what candy means before they’re old enough to understand nutrition 🍬

They hear it when candy is called a “treat” they earned for being good.

When dessert depends on finishing dinner.

When an adult jokes about needing to work off the Halloween candy tomorrow.

Most of us grew up around some version of this, so of course those phrases can come out automatically.

But we get to give our kids a different experience.

Candy can exist alongside the rest of the foods your family eats without needing its own set of warnings, negotiations, or moral lessons.

That gives kids room to have their own experiences with food, notice what they enjoy, and build trust with their bodies over time.

And yes, they might be VERY excited about candy sometimes. They’re kids. Candy is exciting 😂🍫

We don’t need to take the joy out of it in order to raise kids with a peaceful relationship with food 💚 by @karunaforyou

What if the problem was never the candy? 🍬

We spend so much energy trying to make sure kids don’t eat “too much” sugar.

We hide it. Restrict it. Make them finish dinner before they can have it. Tell them they’ve had enough. Save it for special occasions.

All with the best intentions.

But sometimes, the more power we give candy, the more powerful it becomes.

When a child learns this food is special, limited, and I don’t know when I’ll get it again, of course they’re going to want it.

What if instead of teaching kids to fear sweets, we gave them opportunities to experience them without all the urgency?

Candy can be exciting.
Candy can taste really good.
Candy can be part of Halloween.
And candy can also just be… food.

Because raising kids with a peaceful relationship with food isn’t about teaching them to make the “right” choice around candy.

It’s giving them space to experience food without guilt, morality, or shame attached to it 💚
