Following Nana Patekar's recent passing on October 8, 2026, at the age of 75, director Rohit Shetty shared a deeply moving story about the actor's time on the Golmaal Again set.
When Rohit Shetty approached Nana Patekar to ask about his acting fees for the cameo, Patekar completely refused the money. He bluntly yet generously replied: "Ch**ya, tujhse paise lunga? Ek anathashram ka number deta hoon, wahan donate kar de" (Idiot, would I take money from you? I'll give you the number of an orphanage instead; donate it there). Shetty fondly remembered him as a straight, unfiltered, and deeply genuine critic and friend.
