7 minutes agoThis exact thing happened to me. I ended up loosing 2k paying my "bail" at a bail kiosk.
12 minutes agoI never answer my phone. They can leave a message but I look up numbers on the legit co site (not what comes up first in google-they’re fake too) and I call if necessary. Just operate with the knowledge that EVERYTHING is a scam until it’s proven it’s not and don’t answer the phone. Until phone companies can prevent spoofing, no one is safe.
33 minutes agothis is awful ! I'm so sorry and it could have happened to any of us, scammers are so convincing.
an hour agoSomething similar happened to me a few years ago when they were targeting therapists and got all my info from my online marketing and NPI search. I also hung up and called our local sheriff’s office and thankfully they confirmed it was a scam and they would never call about a missed summons. It’s really scary—so sorry this happened to you!!
an hour agoIt's a scam. I accidentally misread my jury duty email (I changed locations, and when they sent me an email, it said, it's been changed (location) but I didn't show up, but when you went further down the email, it gave me a date) so I didn't go. Anyway, I got a letter like 2 months later telling me I didn't show up, so I had to fill out a paper, and that was it. i haven't been called since.
an hour agoSame thing happened to me so I hung up and called the police department directly and asked them about it and they confirmed it was a scam. I gave them the phone number so they added it to their investigation that was already in place.
an hour agoPhone number spoofing is a serious issue that very little is being done about. It's why sms based 2FA is almost entirely pointless. Your PII must have been involved in a data breach somewhere at some point.
an hour agoFine take me to jail, l don’t care anymore. But don’t let someone verify personal information
