In Forrest Gump, there’s this famous line, « Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get. » My friendship with Ivana could almost be an illustration of it. Thanks to Bangtan, and more particularly to Taehyung (what a coincidence), I’m lucky to have her as one of my best friends.
For a long time I believed that the oldest friendships were necessarily the strongest. But life doesn’t warn you, and with Ivana everything happened naturally. We followed each other, then started talking after each of us posted to celebrate the release of Winter Ahead. At first it was cordial, imagine two introverts together. Then the messages multiplied, the topics lost their surface lightness, and the similarities piled up until we called ourselves Soulsister. Said like that, it may sound cheesy, but Ivana truly is my sister from another mother, just like Taetae and Yoon (our cats) are Daegu cousins.
Ivana is one of my most recent friendships, and yet she has taken an invaluable place in my heart. I’m not the kind of person who opens up easily, or who lets people truly into my life, but with her it’s the exception that proves the rule. She has become one of my safe place ( safe person), the one with whom I can say anything and be myself without fear of being judged. Our daily podcasts are now part of my routine.
Ivana is the kind of person everyone should know! A beautiful and kind heart, a BIG sexy brain. Even when humans disappoint, there are people who make us believe in their beauty, and she is one of them.
I’m Taeivana biased and I own it completely.

Ivana, thank you for being you, thank you for being my friend, my Soulsister.
May this new year ahead of you bring everything the best this world has to offer (or at least what’s left of it).
To all the years to come that we’ll celebrate together.
