Sweden’s dads have spoken 🗣️🗣️🗣️.
It’s time for the UK to listen.
In Sweden, fathers are entitled to 90 days of reserved, paid parental leave. The result? Lower divorce rates, happier families, and lower maternal postpartum depression.
Meanwhile, in the UK:
❌ Statutory paternity pay is just £194.32 a week (less than half minimum wage).
❌ 1 in 3 dads take ZERO leave because they simply can’t afford it.
❌ Self-employed dads get absolutely £0.
❌ Women are left to shoulder birth recovery and early childcare alone.
We are running on 1950s logic in a 2026 cost of living crisis.
When you give fathers properly paid, ringfenced leave, everyone wins: mums recover better, children thrive, and dads get to be present parents from day one.
The UK government is reviewing parental leave right now. We have a once-in-a-generation chance to demand 6 weeks of properly paid paternity leave for ALL parents.
