TRAVEL HOCKEY Q+A 🏒 The questions I get asked most about making travel sports work with five boys: How do we afford travel hockey? I don’t have a magical answer for this because travel hockey is hugely expensive. If we wanted a less expensive option, there are house leagues (which our younger boys plan!) that don’t require travel and cost way less. For us, it came down to what we wanted for our boys and how seriously they wanted to pursue the sport. My husband competed at a high level in sports and found tremendous benefits from that experience, so we want to give our boys the opportunity to do the same! How do we do travel sports with school? We homeschool. Travel sports weren’t the reason we decided to homeschool, but I can say that, for us, it helps. Sometimes, I don’t know how families in traditional school do it, but they do! Often working with schools on missed days and/or create independent studies. A lot of the families we meet through travel hockey homeschool too, so bringing school on the road (or to the rink!) is normal. Who watches our other kids when we travel? We ask for help or the other spouse home steps in! My husband and I usually divide up the tournaments at the beginning of the season and decide who is traveling where. Between the two of us, grandparents and babysitters, we make it work. Do we all travel together? Usually no. Traveling with five boys gets very expensive very quickly. We split up tournaments, while the other stays home with the rest of the crew. For a big family, this has actually become one of the unexpected benefits of travel hockey for concentrated one-on-one time. How often do we travel? Each kid in travel hockey travels about once a month on average during the season. Right now, only two of our boys are in travel hockey, so I’m slightly terrified to see what this looks like when all five are playing. 😂 Is it as crazy as it looks? Yes. But I think that’s also part of what makes it so enjoyable. But, also I have five kids, so clearly I love crazy lol. What else do you want to know about travel hockey? We don’t do it perfectly, so feel free to chime in!

Young Texas Mother Involved In A Crash On Louisiana Bridge Mysteriously Vanished From The Scene 🎥: @kprc2 Blogged by: Grace L. Chrissy Munn-Holliday, a 22-year-old mother from Katy, Texas, has been missing since September 30 after investigators say she walked away on foot from a hit-and-run crash on a Louisiana bridge. Her family is now offering a $20,000 reward for her safe return as the search enters its second week. Her full name is Christin Munn-Holliday, and she is the mother of a 4-year-old boy who is waiting for her to come home. According to Louisiana State Police, the crash happened during the early morning hours of September 30 on Interstate 10 eastbound near milepost 128 in Iberville Parish, along the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge. Investigators believe she was driving one of the vehicles involved. A preliminary investigation indicates she left the scene on foot after the collision and has not been located since. What happened next is still unknown. Authorities have not released details about what led up to the crash, and they have not publicly established what happened to Chrissy Munn-Holliday after she walked away from it. Two law enforcement agencies are now working the case. Louisiana State Police Troop A is handling the hit-and-run investigation. On October 1, troopers learned she had also been reported missing to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, which remains the lead agency on the missing person case. State police say investigators from both agencies are in contact and will keep coordinating. Both investigations remain active and ongoing,” Trooper Shelby Mayfield with Louisiana State Police said. Mayfield added that additional investigative details are not being released to protect the integrity of the investigations. Her father, Robert Munn, has put up the $20,000 reward. The family is also raising money to hire a private investigator and an attorney. According to information provided by her parents, they have been traveling back and forth between Texas and Louisiana to meet with investigators, follow possible leads, and take part in the search for their daughter.
