Quick swing tip for all you steelheaders! Don't get caught in the trap of thinking that we always need to be actively slowing our fly down, often in early fall it's actually the exact opposite that we want! In slow pools and glides when the water is warm don't be shy about casting broadside to speed up your swing and even strip your fly to add pace to it. Remember that swinging a fly only works because the movement we impart implies life in a swimming baitfish/crayfish/insect etc. give it a shot and good luck!
