@marijselceramics is a London based Mexican artist and graduate from the Royal College of Art. She explores personal narratives through intricate and small porcelain flowers sculptures. Individually caressed as delicately and thinly as possible, her autobiographical pieces, often situated between memory and fantasy,
emerge as intimate, tactile forms that retain her skin imprints. Vulnerable and fragile, yet unexpectedly strong, her flowers appear on the verge of breaking,
whilst they stubbornly stand.
Shaped by repetition and ritual, her pieces become embodied narratives of emotion and care that encourage contemplation in intimacy. Her flowers are small and deliberately barely visible. They are meant to be found, revealing a world of intricate detail. She invites us to shift our gaze from the dazzling and loud to the small and often unnoticed: from the outside chaos, to our inner worlds
