10.5 years into eating disorder recovery and I’m finally getting to this point where I look back at my 13-20 yr old self like “girl wtf were you smoking” 😭❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥🌶️ Don’t get me wrong — I have so much compassion for the torture I put myself through. Starving, bulimia, working out for hours in plastics even when I wasn’t cutting weight, the binge/purge cycle, hiding in baggy clothes, buying clothes that were too small to “motivate myself” (aka punish), obsessively dieting keto / fasting / weighing myself 20x day / stealing people’s food and then replacing it before they found out YEAH I have done it all. And it never felt like a choice. I was “disciplined” and “successful” everywhere — but could not get to a serene, grounded place with food and body for the life of me. All of that said… For as much compassion as I have for that younger self (and seasons of struggle even WITHIN recovery, bc it isn’t linear)… I also look back on my body & control obsession with such different eyes. I look at pics of myself now (and I’ve been in a fairly similar body size since I was a teen — always tall, muscular, curvy… the way God designed me and my athletic endeavors have built me 🥰)… And I’m like, damn, I wish I could’ve appreciated my health & beauty when I was younger. I wish I could’ve relaxed more, worried less, been more present in social settings, and known that I was perfectly made all along. I can’t change those years, but I can… A) commit to loving and confident self-talk and attitudes moving forward, and B) encourage others to do the same. If you’re reading this, and you ever struggle with some of the things I mentioned — I just want you to know that it CAN get better. Recovery is real. And, for me — recovery always starts with self-love and compassion. That’s what has led to long term change. To better choices for my mental + physical health. Shame and self-hate neverrrr did that for me. So if you’re struggling, it might be worth putting down the negative self-obsession and reminding yourself that you’re beautiful exactly as you are. Being hot is subjective, anyway. Might as well decide that you are rn and act like it hehe 💋 📷 @nancy_v_foto

Protest is a democratic right, and Satyagraha is part of India’s legacy. But the right to protest does not mean the right to disrespect those enforcing the law. In a democracy, you can question authority without compromising your own dignity or disregarding the dignity of others. The uniform deserves respect, just as the right to peaceful protest deserves protection. What are your thoughts? Tell me in the comments. #reels
