2017 was the year Michael Dapaah, aka Big Shaq, turned “Man’s Not Hot” into a viral sensation! 🔥🥶 From Fire in the Booth to taking over the internet, Big Shaq had the world quoting the lyrics like it was the national anthem.

The track became an undeniable hit, the memes were endless, and one thing was clear: man was NOT hot, but the song was on fire! 🔥🎶

🇯🇵 Hello from Tokyo! 🇯🇵

After the longest time dreaming about it (and THE most stressful time planning it!), we finally made it to Japan and have spent the first few days here exploring Tokyo.

It’s been a full on itinerary so far from sumo wrestling in Ginza to watching the sunset at Shibuya Sky and of all the countries we’ve ever visited this has definitely been the biggest culture shock. I’ve got a LOT to share as you can imagine, and the trip has definitely not started without its dramas - a record breaking earthquake alert (I was literally ready to drop and roll…🤣), a visit to a Japanese doctors (I have never felt more brutalised by a nasal swab 🙈), a whole cocktail of drugs to feel half normal again (all in Japanese so I could well be high on opioids right now and I’d have no clue……🤪), and countless visits to McDonald’s so that Harry doesn’t waste away.

I’ll start sharing some story updates later (my Mum will literally have been refreshing her feed for the last 5 days straight 🤣) and when I’m home I’ll share our full itinerary and all of the tips we are learning along the way. But for now, I’m still pinching myself that we are actually here in Japan and lucky enough to be making more memories as a family. ❤️

📸 Amongst the madness of it all we found an hour for a photo shoot which I’ll share more of later but I love this one taken at a little temple in the back streets of Shibuya. Although Tokyo is manic in so many ways, you can find lots of little pockets of calm hidden away too!

Right now it’s time for an early night because tomorrow we take the bullet train to Kyoto for the next part of our trip. I hope you’ll follow along! 🎌

I’ve been meaning to share this little project that I did for myself over the summer. If you are from the NY/NJ area you know exactly who this is! Fudgie the Whale from Carvel! An adorable character ice cream cake. When I was little I was totally mesmerized anytime the commercials came on tv. And it wasn’t the ice cream or chocolate, it was Tom Carvel’s voice! Oh my gosh! I can’t even tell you how comforting it was. The ultimate grandpa voice! A cartoon! And guess what!? He invented soft serve ice cream. Apparently one day when his ice cream truck got a flat tire he found himself with melting inventory and rather than letting it go to waste he began selling it as is to road side customers who loved it! He then developed a low temperature machine and opened his first store in 1936. Fudgie wouldn’t be introduced until the late 70s. And is still around today! Early versions of Fudgie had chopped nuts on the sides and today it is most often chocolate crunchies. I made this paper mache, clay, foam, and plaster version to hang in our kitchen! It was a whole lot of trial and error coming up with my crunchies but I settled on tiny bits of styrofoam. I love seeing him hanging on our striped walls. If you do a quick search online no two fudgie faces are the same. It’s actually pretty hilarious. Swipe through for some close ups, a vintage commercial and to see the man behind it all. 🤎🐳🍦
