Not me getting schooled by my own advice… 😂

I spend a lot of time encouraging parents to do hard things. To step outside their comfort zones. To tolerate the discomfort of doing something new.

And then I somehow agreed to join @robinnyc for a LIVE Peloton ride, having never taken a spin class in my life. What could possibly go wrong?!

I kept coming back to what I want my kids to know: You don’t have to make uncomfortable feelings go away before you try something new. You can feel nervous, unsure, completely out of your element… and still get on the bike.

And I did it! Was I the best in the class? Absolutely not. But that was never the point. I was nervous, I did it anyway, and I’m really proud of myself.

I didn’t have to stop feeling like a beginner to begin.

Earlier this week, I challenged you to try something outside your comfort zone, too. And your responses were incredible. Going to events where you don’t know anyone. Learning mahjong. Running for school board. Taking tap lessons for the first time (still waiting on my invite!).

Your stories inspired me, and I hope mine inspires someone else. So let’s keep this going.

What’s something new YOU want to try? Tell me in the comments. Let’s celebrate being beginners and cheer each other on. ❤️

@umathurman has a different way of thinking about what power means.⁣
⁣
At the Forbes 30/50 5-Year Anniversary Summit with @knowyourvalue, the actress and early childhood advocate joined Forbes Executive Vice President Moira Forbes for a conversation about community, influence and what it means to make a lasting impact.⁣

For Uma, real power isn't about individual influence, but the motivation, love and collaboration behind it.

In a street debate, a man tried to justify the occupation using a “divine promise.” When a young Muslim questioned how he could use that while not believing in God, the man cited the movie “The Ten Commandments” as historical proof, prompting the reply: “According to you, that’s mythology, not history.

Some eras of dance music never really disappear

In 2014, teenage DJ Mattway stepped onto TOP DJ Italia and surprised the judges with a set dedicated entirely to 90s dance classics.

He mixed through records like Robert Miles’ “Children,” Alice Deejay’s “Better Off Alone,” ATB’s “9 PM (Till I Come)” and Corona’s “The Rhythm of the Night” with fast, clean transitions.

More than a decade later, the performance still circulates online as a reminder of just how timeless that era of dance music remains.
