❤️‍🩹My cast is off and the healing & recovery begin! ❤️‍🩹A week ago today I was freed from my cast. Little did I know that the aftermath of being locked 🔒 in a cast for 11 weeks would be so intense! I wasn’t truly prepared for the struggle. ✋My hand and fingers are very stiff, swollen and painful. I can’t make a complete fist or flatten my hand yet. Because I had a complicated break my supination and pronation of my wrist/arm is the greatest challenge. I have lost strength and muscle tone in my forearm & triceps and my shoulder is locked up from doing all the work the past 11 weeks! ❤️As you can see I have a long road to recovery! The mental game is SO IMPORTANT to this healing journey. A positive mindset is key 🔑 when facing daily struggles. He knew them all. That was the point, and the crowd in Lubbock knew it before the punchline landed. The president told the rally that James Talarico knew the names of every drag queen, that asked for a favorite he liked about nine of them and started rattling off names, one after another, while the audience laughed at the absurdity of a United States Senate candidate with a mental Rolodex of drag performers. The clip behind the joke was real. Asked at a campaign event to name his favorite drag queen, Talarico answered in under a second: Alyssa Edwards. He had already told Texas that the state produces some of the best drag queens in the nation. A normal Texan could not name one. He named nine. The same rally played the rest of the compilation, and the rest of it was worse than the punchline. God is nonbinary, Talarico told a hearing. Jesus Christ, visiting the Texas Legislature, would say blessed are the trans children. These are not the president’s words. They are Talarico’s words, on video, in his own preacher’s cadence, and the rally laughed because the material needed no exaggeration. A candidate who preaches a nonbinary God, blesses the ideology that puts males in girls’ sports, and keeps a favorite drag queen on instant recall is not a Texas Democrat. He is a Portland import with a seminary degree and a drag Rolodex, asking the most conservative big state in America to send him to Washington. Who the hell knows that? Everybody in Texas knows it now. The question was rhetorical, but the answer is the campaign: a man who knows nine drag queens by name and cannot name one reason Texas should trust him with a Senate seat. The voters know the names that matter. Paxton. The border. The girls’ teams. The children. Tuesday is the night Texas answers the president’s question with the only name that counts on a ballot: the other one.
