Treehugger A couple of days ago I had to self arrest by headbutting a tree. I've been on this trail and bunch of times but it seems I needed to relearn some hard lessons. While climbing down a steep slope I was holding on to the rope but like a total moron I was using just one arm. My other was carrying my overly massive tripod. One little misstep on some greasy mud and my already torn up shoulder lost it's tenuous grip on the rope and I went for an impromptu roll down the slope. With the bear spray can poking me in the face and my tripod discarded I was totally out of control. My abrupt stop  was delivered by a sturdy aspen where a small piece of my forehead skin still resides. I prefer to consider myself rather lucky. After a few minutes of coming to my senses I got back on the trail and captured some lovely shots which you'll see here. All was good. Here is a summary of the lessons I'd already learned years ago but needed to relearn. After that I'm going to ask for your advice: Wear Gloves when roping Use small camera bag specifically for climbing Bring smallest/lightest tripod Slide down on bum during tricky spots Purchase new shoulder The final tip is the one I need your help with. Clearly, I need some kind of emergency beacon device for when things go sideways. I've heard you can get those watched based beacons but are they any good? Do you have any advice on the best kind of gadget for when you're deep in the woods and canyons and might one day need emergency help? Even if it's a flat tire where there's no cell coverage or getting lost in fog. What's the best modern tool for tricky situations? Thanks for reading. Gavin - Fototripper

OK. I know this looks like an #NWA - but technically this one is from ages ago. So more WA than NWA. This is the SERICA 5303-1, with a Destro spin. I ordered this watch in May but it only arrived last week. In true Gallic style, I guess it needed an 8 week summer holiday on its way to me… But I was happy to wait because… well, just look at it. 300m water resistance, antimagnetic, one of the very best bracelets and bezel actions on the market, let alone at this price point, and so well designed that the brand is happy to relegate its own name to the sub-text at 6. Amazing. And apparently, the Destro has now been discontinued so it’s feasible that this was even the last one off the production line. Either way, huge thanks to @andrew_mcutchen @gingerwatchguy @craigontime Abraham and the one and only James at @timetideshopuk - you guys are the best! 🙏🏼 ⌚️ @sericawatches 5303-1 📸 @leicauk Q2 #sericawatches #divewatch #solidcaseback #thatwatchpodcast
