Printmakers Council

Our new Featured Artist, Kate Simkins worked in publishing for many years creating children’s books, which fostered an interest in illustration and design. She learned printmaking at Richmond Art School, first focusing on screenprinting on fabric but soon discovered a love of linocut and collagraphs. She works from her garden studio in Twickenham and at Richmond Art School and is a member of the Wednesday Printmakers group. Kate has exhibited her work at the Wednesday Printmakers exhibitions many times and has taken part in the Richmond Art Open House studios as well as the Miniprint exhibition at the Southbank Printmakers. She takes her inspiration from her garden, her cat, the local environment and other artists and printmakers. Kate likes to experiment with new techniques and to play with illustrative and more abstract pieces.
