Living artworks.
At key moments throughout Dilkera, 200-year-old Grass Trees (Xanthorrhoea glauca) emerge as prominent sculptural features.
Each was hand-selected and carefully positioned for its form, scale and relationship to the surrounding garden.
Rescued from development sites, these age-old trees were given another place to grow, supported by the soil, extensive drainage systems and site conditions they need to establish well.
There’s something deeply inspiring about working with living forms that have existed for hundreds of years before us, and creating the conditions for them to continue long after.
We designed and installed the gardens,
@shaunlockyerarchitects designed the house,
@cghconstructions built the house,
@christopherfrederickjones took the photos.
