“Growing up in Delhi, my elder sister Neeru was neurodivergent. Maa would take her to an NGO, and I’d tag along. Those visits taught me early in life: when you show up for people, they show up for you.
Over the years, I built a career in advertising and spent my savings on photography and motorcycles. But on 27th November 2011, Papa suffered a severe heart attack. While running between the hospital and home, my company fired me. Hardly anyone from work called, but Neeru’s friends from the NGO checked in every single day.
That was my turning point. I thought, ‘Why can’t I make this my life?’ I combined my love for bikes and social work to start ‘Bikers for Good’. We raised funds for causes across India, distributed 10,000 bars of soap during COVID, and connected riders globally. But around 2020, I was diagnosed with cancer, and during treatment, my marriage ended. I felt completely broken and cut off from the world. Then one day, a group of speech- and hearing-impaired bikers rode all the way from Kerala to Delhi—over 2,500 kilometres—just to stand with me for a few hours. That gesture brought me back to life. The second I heard my bike engine roar again, I knew I couldn’t stop.
Cancer tested my body. Divorce broke my heart. Depression brought me to my lowest. Zindagi ne baar-baar meri hadh aazmaayi. Tab samjha... hadh zindagi banati hai, behad hum khud bante hain.

В Курултае обсуждают проект закона «О республиканском бюджете на 2027 — 2029 годы». В нём планируют сократить расходы на социальную сферу.

Премьер-министр Олжас Бектенов заявил, что с 1 января 2027 года государство должно в полной мере перейти от поддержки по формальному признаку принадлежности к той или иной категории к принципу нуждаемости.

В качестве примера Бектенов привел многодетные семьи. Сейчас одинаковые меры поддержки могут получать как малообеспеченные, так и состоятельные семьи.

«На наш взгляд, это несправедливо. Богатые люди, люди состоятельные, имеющие возможность сами себя обеспечивать, не должны получать помощь от государства», — сказал премьер.

По его словам, государственная поддержка должна предоставляться прежде всего тем, кто в конкретной жизненной ситуации не способен самостоятельно себя обеспечить.

При этом Бектенов подчеркнул, что такая помощь не должна восприниматься как постоянный источник дохода. Её задача — помочь человеку выйти из сложной ситуации.

«Государство должно поддерживать и будет поддерживать только тех, кто не может в данной жизненной ситуации себя обеспечить. Но опять же, с прицелом на то, что ту помощь, которую государство оказывает, человек должен воспринимать не как постоянную. Это как толчок к тому, чтобы он нашёл себя, стал себя обеспечивать и со временем вышел из категории нуждающихся. Вот такая философия», — сказал Бектенов.

Правительство рассчитывает, что изменение подхода позволит существенно сократить расходы бюджета. По словам премьера, только в 2027 году экономия может составить около 700 млрд тенге, а за трехлетний период — почти 2,5 трлн тенге.

this was a really fun day I had this last week when my friend Teddy was hosting a popup in Brooklyn and the night before I decided I would run from my house to the popup (10 miles) for fun. I had never ran more than 3 miles before in my life so it was a serious challenge and I got to explore some parts of the city I would have never without choosing to do it. this meal is really all about the radicchio, this marinade was something I learned working at my previous restaurant and the flavors just pair perfectly with most proteins. if you can I would definitely suggest marinating for longer so that way the vinegar and sugar really penetrates the radicchio, but I wanted to eat as soon as possible. I got chicken quarters because they are my favorite cut and typically the cheapest by far at any local grocery market and potato because I wanted a really satisfying starch side to this plate. there are so many ways to prepare potatoes and this pommel dauphin/potato rosti is one of my favorites because it is so easy but comes across as a high effort technique and tastes so good.
