I completely understand why emily henry wrote happy place
A few weeks ago, Maya and I rented a tiny cottage in Maine. The night we arrived we were both exhausted and kept saying “we should probably go to bed”, but somehow we ended up talking in the living room until 2am instead. At some point that night I remember thinking about how special it is to have someone whose mind seems to work just like yours. Someone you can move effortlessly between talking about the niche song lyrics you love and books you’ve never forgotten and your neverending desire to see the world and the things you’re almost scared to say out loud. And I think that night is what got me thinking about friendship in general. The friends I have now, the friends I thought I’d grow old with, the ones I don’t know anymore, and all the different versions of myself that existed alongside them. I used to think a friendship ending meant you had failed. That if you were really meant to be friends, you would be forever. I don’t think I believe that anymore. The older I get, the more I realize that every friendship gives us something different. There are people who have been beside me through so many versions of myself, people who came into my life exactly when I needed them, and people I once couldn’t imagine my life without who I don’t know anymore. And I don’t think any of those friendships mean less because they turned out differently than I thought they would. There are so many parts of who I am that are remnants of people I no longer know. So Letter 05 is about friendship. The ones that stay, the ones that change, the ones we lose, and what all of them leave behind. And it started with two friends who were supposed to go to bed, sitting across from each other in a tiny cottage in Maine.

🚨 URGENT: Sign now to free Ghassan Najjar through the link in our bio or at 🔗 https://www.change.org/freeghassan 🔗 Share this post and demand the immediate release of Ghassan Najjar before his impending court date. Organize protests demanding his release at Israeli consulates and embassies, watch for updates, opportunities to support legal defense, and calls to action in the coming days. Israeli forces raided Burin in the West Bank at 3AM on October 27, detaining 60 residents. They took Ghassan Najjar from his home and assaulted him, causing a head injury. His condition is unknown. Ghassan co-founded the Burin Land and Farming Cooperative and has spent years supporting farmers facing settler violence. Shin Bet had threatened to detain him if he kept organizing. Now he’s held indefinitely, without charge or trial. We demand his immediate and unconditional release, and humane treatment and protection from torture while he is held. ✍️ Sign via the link in bio 📢 Share and tag your representatives #FreeGhassan #BurinisnotAlone #OliveHarvest
