Join Friends of the Filipino People in Struggle San Fernando Valley and CSUN’s Students for Justice in Palestine on Friday, October 16 for a teach-in about political prisoners of the Philippine and Palestinian resistance, the importance of international solidarity, and how struggles intersect across borders!
In their fight for liberation, the Philippines and Palestine share a common history of standing up against imperialist powers and their puppets. With this, political prisoners become a powerful symbol of resistance while exposing the threat of state oppression.
In the San Fernando Valley, the rise of fascism directly impacts the region followed by the increase in ICE terror. This teach-in will allow us to extract lessons from one another, draw comparisons that link the global to local struggle, and include engaging discussions on how to broaden the mass movement.
To both commemorate and honor the Palestinian Prisoners Day on April 17 and Philippine Political Prisoners Day on December 4, SJP and FFPS aim to tie together the two distinct struggles, as well as expose the root cause of these injustices: US imperialism.
