Neighbors, A family is dealing with heartbreak as they prepare to bury their two young sons. Authorities say the bodies of Elijah Khalil Hawkins, 5, and Kashh Kendrell Williams, 3, were recovered from a pond on Saturday. The discovery followed reports that the children went missing after leaving their Daytona Beach home. Police Chief Jakari Young said investigators believe the deaths were accidental and that there is no indication of foul play.

Young said their mother fed the children Saturday afternoon before lying down for a brief nap. When she woke up, both boys — along with the family dog — had managed to slip outside of the apartment.

He said quote “She woke up approximately 15 minutes later, and the kids, as well as the family dog, had gotten out of the apartment. She does have a child safety lock on the door, so apparently, they figured out how to navigate that child safety lock, and they exited the apartment.”

Surveillance video obtained by police shows the two boys running near the pond before entering the water. Their mother is seen on the video coming outside moments later.

While Young believes the deaths were accidental, he said the question of whether the mother will face criminal charges remains unanswered. Young said the department has turned its entire case over to the State Attorney’s Office, which has the authority to make that determination.

A GoFundMe has launched in memory of the boys and to support their family. More than $10,000 has been raised.

Note: These propaganda photographs were meant to show the beauty and aesthetics of the time. This post is meant to show exactly that. This is propaganda history, an important factor of the history of the Third Reich. The last photograph explains what it eventually led to.

These photographs document the Landjahr, a year-long rural labor and training program for German adolescents that expanded after 1934 under the National Socialist government. Boys and girls were placed in camps and on farms across the Reich, where they performed agricultural work, lived in organized groups, and received instruction meant to strengthen ties to the countryside and to the collective “Volk.”
The images show tent encampments, field labor, handicrafts, outdoor lectures, music, physical drills, and flag ceremonies, accompanied by slogans stressing community over the individual, agrarian identity, pre-military training, and ancestor commemoration. The program was linked to the Hitler Youth, the Bund Deutscher Mädel, and the later Reichsarbeitsdienst. The photographs formed part of the official visual propaganda of the German Reich in the 1930s and early 1940s.
