The next generation of gaming consoles is already generating controversy, with rumors suggesting that the PlayStation 6 and Microsoft’s next Xbox could be significantly more expensive than previous systems. Unofficial predictions have placed the PS6 anywhere between $1,000 and $1,600, although Sony has not announced an official price. For comparison, both the original PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X launched in 2020 with starting prices of $499.99 in the United States.

The potential price increases are being linked to rising manufacturing expenses, powerful graphics technology, and growing demand for advanced processors and memory. Microsoft’s upcoming Xbox, reportedly known as Project Helix, has also been the subject of speculation, with some estimates suggesting a possible price between $1,200 and $1,800. However, these figures remain unconfirmed, and actual retail prices could be considerably different.

If next-generation consoles approach these rumored prices, gaming could become a much more expensive hobby. What was once considered an affordable alternative to high-end PC gaming could eventually cost as much as a powerful gaming computer, raising questions about how much consumers are willing to spend on new hardware. 🎮

Class is in session for A History of Design. Lesson two: the Georgians 🏛️

Strap yourselves into your corsets, because we’re heading back to 1714–1830 to explore the era of symmetry, proportion, sash windows and fireplaces that refuse to be overlooked.
From grand Georgian architecture and floor-to-ceiling panelling to the early influence of Thomas Chippendale, dado rails (which, FYI, had rather practical origins) and those deliciously moody historic paint colours. All of which goes some way to explaining why Georgian interiors feel so effortlessly right.

And yes, this is a LONG one. We’re going long-form, baby. Ever heard of it?! 😜 I jest, but I do worry about what all these short and snappy reels are doing to our attention spans, so here’s a healthy 2 minutes and 30 seconds of interior design nerdiness. You’re welcome.
