Hispanic Heritage Month | Day 29 🇸🇻❤️👵🏽

How could I spend an entire month celebrating our culture, our people, and our stories and not give flowers to my grandma? 💐❤️

My grandmother came to this country and WORKED. Before retiring, she worked two jobs, and even after having surgery on both knees, she kept going. She helped bring every one of her daughters here, raised some of my cousins, and poured so much into her children, grandchildren, and now great-grandchildren.

But Grandma was also the glue that kept our family together. ❤️ December 31st wasn’t just New Year’s Eve, it was her birthday, and EVERYBODY went to Grandma’s house. When she retired and moved back to El Salvador, that tradition unfortunately faded. That’s when you realize she really was the one bringing us all together.

She’s also the woman who taught me how to cook 👩🏽‍🍳 and a woman whose incredible faith in God has carried her throughout her life. 🙏🏽

Today, she’s retired and back home in El Salvador 🇸🇻 enjoying the life she worked so hard for, and I couldn’t be happier for her. After spending so many years sacrificing for everyone else, she finally gets to enjoy life on her own terms. She gave so much of herself to build a better future for her family, and generations of us are living proof of those sacrifices. ❤️

A mother. A grandmother. A great-grandmother. An immigrant woman whose strength, faith, and love helped shape generations. Our matriarch. ❤️

Today, the flowers go to my grandma, because if anyone deserves to enjoy the fruits of her labor, it’s her. 💐🇸🇻 TRUE LATINA POWER!
