✊🏽 WHEN WANDSWORTH SENT AN INDIAN REVOLUTIONARY TO PARLIAMENT
Join us for Black History Month with speaker Marc Wadsworth, author of Comrade Sak, about Shapurji Saklatvala. Saklatvala was a fighter for Indian independence and against the British Empire, elected for Battersea North as the first Labour MP of colour in 1922 and re-elected in 1924 as a Communist. His impact in local, national and international movements for radical change is shown by the fact he was the first person arrested in the 1926 General Strike, and then banned from India by the British govt. Come and discuss all this and inspirations and lessons for today!
