Every Navratri, Goa celebrates with a wonderfully unique festival called Makharotsav.
At its heart is the makhar, a beautifully decorated wooden swing on which the deity is seated and gently swayed each evening to the rhythm of dhols and temple music.
For nine days, devotees gather to watch their gods swing and sway, a tradition that dates back centuries.
