If Your Marriage Is Thre@tening Your Health and Life, Pack Your Load and Leave Temporarily to Fix It From Outside— Pastor Bolaji Idowu Pastor Bolaji Idowu has urged couples to work towards making their marriages successful while warning against remaining in abusive relationships that threaten their health and lives. The cleric described being trapped in an unhappy marriage as one of the worst things that could happen to a person, noting that marriage does not automatically guarantee happiness or companionship. “Some of the loneliest people in the world are married people because single people think once you get married, it’s all over. No, Some of the loneliest people in the world are married people,” he said. While encouraging couples to make their marriages work, Idowu clarified that his advice should not be interpreted as an instruction to remain in an abusive relationship. “I’m gonna challenge you to make your marriage work but before I challenge you, I want to say something very powerful: I’m careful lest you ever think because I’m challenging you, I’m also asking you to stay in an ab¥sive relationship,” he stated. He further advised people whose marriages pose a thre@t to their health and lives to leave temporarily and seek ways to resolve their marital problems from outside the relationship. “Any marriage that is thre@tening your health and life, pack your load leave temporarily, fix the marriage from outside. If it’s fixable, then you come back,” the pastor said. Responding to a question about whether he would encourage someone to leave a marriage if their life was in d@nger, Idowu answered in the affirmative, stressing that preserving one’s life should take priority. “Yes, I do. The reason is that nobody’s going to d+e and you say my marriage k+lled me and I’m going to be excited about it,” he added.
