A very special encounter at DJWE 2026.

During the exhibition, César Trémeaud from Universal Genève sat down with DWC to introduce us to the collections the historic Maison brought to Qatar for the first time — from the elegant Cabriolet and playful Disco Mini to the legendary Compax and Polerouter.

It was also wonderful to see Universal Genève presented at DJWE by Blue Salon — congratulations to the team on welcoming such an important name in watchmaking to its portfolio. Universal Genève was officially listed among the maisons exhibiting with Blue Salon at this year’s show.

For our feature, César chose to focus on perhaps the most emblematic of them all: the Polerouter.

First came the blue-dial Polerouter Date Prêt-à-Porter, a contemporary interpretation of Gérald Genta’s celebrated 1954 design. Its 39mm steel case houses the new manufacture UG-110 Microtor calibre, measuring just 3.8mm thick, beating at 4Hz and delivering approximately 72 hours of power reserve. The movement uses Universal Genève’s signature compact automatic winding architecture — a modern continuation of the Microtor concept that became inseparable from the Polerouter story.

César then showed us two particularly beautiful Polerouter Hardstone Capsule Editions: the warm Tiger’s Eye, housed in 18k rose gold, and the striking Bull’s Eye in stainless steel. Both measure 39mm and are powered by the same UG-110 Microtor, allowing the extraordinary natural stone dials to take centre stage while retaining serious mechanical credentials underneath.

Heritage, design and mechanical ingenuity brought together in one of watchmaking’s great names. A real pleasure to discover Universal Genève’s new chapter up close in Doha.
