A student union movement is about students' right to organize, and that includes deciding who stands with it. ABVP enjoys administrative and state backing, and its presence here lends it legitimacy it has not earned and shifts attention from our demand. We ask organizers to set clear conditions for participation, including who controls the agenda and speaks for the movement, and to ask ABVP to step away from the dharna site. Support for the demand is welcome, but not at the cost of the movement's independence.
