Nolan Almeida (@nolanmalmeida) found out he’d landed Brothers on a night off from touring Peter Pan, after pacing a San Antonio hotel room for two hours waiting for the showrunner to call.

The Orange County native made his professional debut at 15 in Newsies, a show so physical it left him without a voice some mornings and unsure he was cut out for theatre at all. Now, he’s playing Matthew McConaughey’s (@officiallymcconaughey) son opposite Woody Harrelson (@woodyharrelson) in Apple TV’s (@appletv) Brothers, and admits he forgot to breathe through his entire first table read.

The screen hasn’t pulled him away from the stage, though. He’s just moved to New York to do more theatre. “Anything that adds fuel to the fire and keeps me motivated really helps keep me going,” he says.
