Neighbors, check out this story. A 15-year-old Florida girl is facing multiple charges after authorities say she used an artificial intelligence-altered photo to falsely implicate her ex-boyfriend in a threat to carry out a school shooting.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to Riverview High School in Riverview, on Wednesday after school administrators received an email containing a screenshot of an Instagram post threatening a shooting at the campus.

Investigators initially believed the threatening post appeared to have originated from a male student who attended the school. However, after interviewing the student, detectives determined that he was not responsible for the post. Authorities allege that the threat instead originated from the student’s 15-year-old ex-girlfriend, who previously attended Riverview High School.

During an interview with detectives, the teenager reportedly admitted to sending the email to school administrators. Investigators said she knew the image attached to the email had been altered using artificial intelligence.

The teen’s alleged actions led to multiple criminal charges, including written or electronic threat to conduct a mass shooting or act of terrorism, unlawful use of a two-way communications device, and disrupting a school campus or function. Thoughts?
