Humans have always found ways to adorn their bodily temples. To attune to a higher frequency of love for oneself, for community, and as an act of ritual. Join @a.l.artandprints and @artemis.revival for an evening of community and sisterhood. We’ll share warm tea, conversation around the art of adorning our bodies, and explore how creating little rituals within the daily mundane can make life feel a bit more like ceremony. Through gentle movement, adornment, and expressive practices, we’ll reconnect with the bodies we call home before moving into guided body landscape paintings, finding inspiration in the natural world and the beauty of our own forms. Come as you are, adorn as you please. If you live in West Hollywood, you can vote for three city council candidates. Here are my endorsements, and I strongly urge you to vote for them, especially if you want to see WeHo become a more walkable, transit friendly city: Stephen Post (@post4weho ) Chelsea Byers (@chelsealeebee ) Helen Krieger (@helen4weho ) All three present a positive, joyful vision for transportation in WeHo. All three have committed to moving forward with the long-overdue Fountain Ave Streetscape Project. This is a death trap of a road that I bike a lot to get east-west through Hollywood. The project widens the sidewalks and adds a protected bike lane, turning Fountain from WeHo's de facto highway into a calm neighborhood streets. By the way, City Council launched a last minute plan to kill this (already approved) project. They're meeting about it on Monday, and you can find the details in @streetsforall 's bio. The Fountain safety plan is a major issue that candidates on the other side have organized around in opposition, which is why it's so important to support it. Kyle Brazeal (kyle4weho ) is one of the most outspoken opponents of the project. He's openly bragged about how he drives really fast past the spot where Blake Ackerman was killed. Brazeal has the endorsement of Rick Chavez Zbur, the state legislator who wrote language into a budget bill to kill the bike lanes on Forest Lawn Drive. Brazeal also has the endorsement of WeHo city councilmember John Heilman (@jheilman90069 ), another outspoken opponent of bike lanes. Heilman's a professor at UCLA Law, the school I attend and ride my bike to. Blake Ackerman was a recent law school graduate when he was killed biking on Fountain. Blake's family is suing the city, and yet Heilman continues to defend his position against the safety improvements. Let's elect a clean slate so we can put this in the past and actually build the infrastructure we need for the future.
