HALO clearance breathes life into Baiji railway yard, #Iraq.
HALO has completed the clearance of a contaminated area at Baiji Railway Yard, helping pave the way for the restoration of a critical transport corridor.
The yard, heavily impacted by recent conflict, serves as an essential link between the Baiji refinery, northern cities including Mosul and Kirkuk, and the capital, Baghdad.
HALO's mechanical team identified and destroyed IEDs and several explosive components over a 13,606 sq metres area, reducing the threat to nearby communities and agricultural land.
The restoration of this railway network is now one step closer. Improved transport links will support economic recovery, strengthen trade and help reconnect communities across the region.
