Our mission is to protect lives and restore the livelihoods of those affected by conflict.

POSTS STORIES REELS

Our look has changed – our commitment to the communities we serve hasn’t.

At a time of unprecedented levels of global conflict, shrinking international aid budgets and massive humanitarian need, our work has never been more important.

To meet the challenges of today, our bolder, leaner and more innovative visual identity is in-keeping with our use of cutting-edge technology, where HALO leads the way in harnessing tech to make land clearance faster, smarter and safer.

Our new branding better reflects who we are today and where we're heading next.

HALO’s new visual identity also means our digital channels are accessible to all, and our agile branding will help ensure we remain relevant to the decision makers, donors and investors whose support is vital.

We've worked in over 40 countries and territories since 1988 and as we face the reality of an increasingly dangerous world, we remain steadfast in our mission to save lives and help communities recover and rebuild after conflict. by @thehalotrust

Mines and explosives continued to claim civilian lives across #Syria in October.

Tragically, nearly two years after the fall of the Assad regime, families returning home continue to face the deadly threat of explosives hidden in their homes, gardens, and farmland.

Landmines were responsible for most adult deaths reported during October, particularly herders, shepherds, construction workers and people clearing mines from their own land.

We estimate that explosives claim a casualty every six hours in in Syria, and there is almost certainly under-reporting of incidents.

To deal with the humanitarian crisis now unfolding, HALO has been rapidly training and growing our teams to clear land, save lives and teach families to stay safe.

HALO protects communities in Afghanistan after 2025 earthquake.

A devastating earthquake in Afghanistan’s Kunar province forced local communities to leave their homes – with landmines and bombs from past conflicts threatening the lives of families who had been displaced.

In the aftermath of the earthquake, HALO provided over 16,500 people with life-saving risk education, and our quick response teams destroyed 200 explosive items.

This vital work was supported by @UN_OCHA’s Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund.

🇿🇼 Key partners come together with a landmine-free #Zimbabwe in sight.

HALO, ZIMAC, @ukinzimbabwe, and @firstcapitalbankzw recently brought together key partners to celebrate Zimbabwe’s demining progress, showcase the impact of clearance on communities, and rally support for a mine-free Zimbabwe by 2030.

“Zimbabwe’s remarkable progress reflects the courage and skill of its deminers and ZIMAC’s leadership and expertise. This is the moment to accelerate, not step back” said British Ambassador Gill Lever.

Zimbabwe’s Minister of Defence highlighted how international operators have been funded by key donors like the UK, Japan and USA.

“Successful mine action programmes require a whole-of-society approach. Together, we can help end this predicament for these communities and usher Zimbabwe onto an unstoppable development trajectory.”

We extend our thanks to all attendees, including Peace Security Company, Horizon Commodities Exchange, Apex, Propgame, @ironmaskaerotech, and Nutrimaster Zimbabwe to name just a few. by @thehalotrust

13 years of clearing the way in 🇨🇴 #Colombia!

“There are children waiting behind us who will be able to see the beautiful things we are going to leave for them," says Kelli Lucumí - Community Liaison.

For 13 years, HALO has been working alongside communities across Colombia to clear land affected by mines and explosive devices and help make it safer for people to live, work and build their futures.

Since 2013, we have:

• Destroyed 4,897+ explosive devices
• Cleared 1,989,037 sq metres of land
• Reached 61,000+ people with safety education

Today, we celebrate 13 years of work, progress and partnership with communities across Colombia.

HALO clearance breathes life into Baiji railway yard, #Iraq.

HALO has completed the clearance of a contaminated area at Baiji Railway Yard, helping pave the way for the restoration of a critical transport corridor.

The yard, heavily impacted by recent conflict, serves as an essential link between the Baiji refinery, northern cities including Mosul and Kirkuk, and the capital, Baghdad.

HALO's mechanical team identified and destroyed IEDs and several explosive components over a 13,606 sq metres area, reducing the threat to nearby communities and agricultural land.

The restoration of this railway network is now one step closer. Improved transport links will support economic recovery, strengthen trade and help reconnect communities across the region.

With thanks to the government of the Netherlands 🇳🇱 @minbz for generously funding this vital work. by @thehalotrust

What does a map have to do with making communities safer?

For Marcela Martinez, it’s a vital part of humanitarian clearance. As a GIS assistant in #Colombia🇨🇴, she uses @trimble_official technology to help HALO teams accurately record locations and safely plan their work.

The “Women in GIS for Demining” initiative, funded by the Trimble Foundation, is helping to strengthen #humanitarian clearance through innovative mapping #technology, specialized training, and mentoring other staff.

We’re incredibly grateful to Trimble and the @TrimbleGeospatial Team for investing in the people and technology that help HALO teams clear land faster, safer, and more effectively.

Learn more about how HALO applies technology to real-world problems at the link in our bio ☝️
