hard truths ⋆˚꩜。 plus size pregnancy

i could definitely add more to this list!!

any of you resonate with these? 🤔

i should also caveat that i was about 4st heavier than i am now for both my pregnancies. i’ve mentioned before that when i’m pregnant i find it really difficult to stay in shape with the ever growing belly 🫠

I was told my baby would be huge and I needed an induction, I didn't progress so had an emergency cesarean, I also wasn't allowed to labour in the water due to my weight

I’m so scared but I also have high blood pressure of 118/87 while pregnant 😭

Unfortunately because I’m 36. Pregnant with my 4th and my BMI just over I was told I need blood thinners from 28 weeks. Which I’m not sure how one size fits all. Everyone is different sizes and has different health concerns.

Lost weight while pregs.glucose tests were normal. I am a lupie tho. Clexane shots. Cudnt eat a damn thing for 9mths. Barfed. Lived on club soda and #PommecythereChow . Ppartum i am heavier thanks to return of lupus. Steroids. And the works. 50lbs heavier than pre pregs or even while pregs.

It was the general assumption I was unhealthy…. I actually fired two different midwives because of their fat-fobia and absolute OUTDATED and inaccurate knowledge of pregnancy and plus size pregnancies. Ended up free birthing both my babies and wouldn’t have it any other way. I was actually pressure to see a MFM doctor by my midwife because she was FLIPPING out despite everything in my pregnancy being completely healthy. I truly think I was her first (and hopefully last after how she treated me) plus-size-pregnant mama. My prenatal care was traumatizing to me. I ended up having to get way more ultrasounds than I wanted because she was constantly trying to find an excuse to risk me out. Which she couldn’t find because surprise-surprise…. I was healthy. The OB she sent me to was like “just make sure you’re not eating a large fry when you go out” 😤🫠 excuse me sir? My husband and I can’t even afford to eat out rn, so keep your mouth shut 🙄 anyways. Ended my pregnancy free and felt the weight of the world fall off my shoulders and immense peace after that decision! (I did relate to all. But especially that one!)

Is there a reason for blood thinning injections other than just being plus size? I didn’t have to do them (US) and am plus size but was told to take aspirin to avoid gestational hypertension.

You know I am very very very glad that both times they just weighed me during booking appointment and then never again! But I don’t understand the whole bump measurement thing, it makes no sense if you’re plus size or not. Thankfully I never got those, just normal growth scans. I know they can’t give growth scans to everyone, but they should at least do one at 36 weeks, confirm size of the baby and position as well, make sure nothing is missing. But the blood thinning injections were bad, I hated them and I’m not looking forward to them again 😢

I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes and thought the test was wrong until I was checking my blood and saw the numbers 🫠 it’s no joke, definitely take it seriously! Also, I’m 5’8” and was 210 when I conceived. Skinny people get it too though 😂

I was made to do the glucose test 3 times even though I sailed through it every time. The first time I was told I was “borderline” when I wasn’t. Twice more showed I was completely fine. And had always been fine. I also had a dietician force me to be weighed even though I had just been weighed by my midwife and told her my current weight. She also factored in my pregnancy weight (I lose weight when pregnant but she included the weight of the baby) in my BMI. It was bonkers. If you have an endocrine disorder the rules in my country are you don’t use BMI. It’s a messed up scale anyway but that’s a whole other issue.

I HATED that I never got a cute belly. I never looked pregnant at all to myself until RIGHT before he was born. I’m talking the last two weeks maybe. In all my pics, I was trying my hardest to look pregnant with my hand on my stomach. But I could never “hold” my belly in THAT way other people do bc it would just look like I was holding my fat rolls basically. 😭 Of course my family and friends could tell and my husband, but I sure couldn’t. gonna comment on this and leave a pic for reference. ⬇️
