we shouldn't kink shame but many people don't understand that there are certain boundaries because they're too focused on being 'open minded' and 'accepting'

so disgusting.. this is kaafi similar to the caste system here in india where upper caste men fetishize dalit women while upper caste women fetishize dalit men. ive seen progressive upper castes talk about marrying dalit people just to piss off their casteist parents. it doesn't necessarily have to be intended out of malice but shows how dalit people are reduced from people to fetishes, even by progressive anti-caste people.

I will never understand the irony of white or fairly skinned communities to think that dark skinned people are uncivilized, savage and are less human than them whereas the whites considering themselves superior (which is essentially stripping other races of their humanity) is far way far more inhumane than having more melanin

I agree. But I also blame the Indian diaspora to an extent. It’s our colonial hangover that has allowed the west/desis living in the west to continue this kind of neo-colonial mentality. Popular culture has only fueled this rubbish narrative. I was a kid when Kama Sutra, the film, was released. I was curious as an adult and watched it to see why it was considered bold. I absolutely HATED it because it had nothing to do with the actual treatise and it only fetishized what is “considered” Indian. There are so many movies/booksa like this. Mistress of Spices is one such. You know what film was actually bold? Bandit Queen. But people couldn’t stomach it. Because that didn’t suit their standard of what is considered exotic and beautiful.

We ourselves are also doing this. Even if you go to talk about choices and likes when you have conversations about romantic intimacy, you will subtly see all these discrimination points bleeding from people's mouth as normal conversations.

But aren’t they??? Women no matter how much they grow where they go whatever they qualify for they actually feel superior marrying anyone! Marriage is made an achievement and on top of that this content creation has gotten so out of hand that marriages have become content itself! Showing off how much freedom a white man gives and respects them but in reality the man just married someone with lower standards! And it’s nothing different what indian men oe any other cultural traditional man do marry someone whose expectations are way low! It’s just women in foreign countries specially in west have setup freedom as basic rights so the men there are turning towards subconsciously suppressed women and these women are taking them as a trophy!!

Unfortunately we ourselves are caught up in these stereotypes and are propagating them as well. That Animal movie is a good example of it happening in Bollywood.

Yet we only focus on Indians. Both can be true: one country gets hate and at one country isn’t the whole story
