I’m SO excited to be starting a new quarterly IN PERSON book club at @belmontbooks ! It’s called Big Book Club, and the first meeting is Sunday November 1st at 4pm. Each quarter, we pick one of season’s biggest books, the prizewinner or bestseller dominating every group chat and book club, and have two writers with opposing views hash it out.
The pick for fall 2026 is WHISTLER by Ann Patchett. Ann Patchett is practically universally beloved, but this book has been making huge waves at book clubs across the nation because of its ambiguous — and contentious! — ending. This time, I’ll be joined @jenna_blum and we both have THINGS TO SAY about this book. She and I will be in conversation for the first twenty minutes, and then we open up to audience discussion. The goal isn’t to tear a book down but to revel in the differing, passionate opinions that great literature can inspire. Co-sponsored by @tbr.conference and Belmont Books.
