Infamous for being controversial, Alexander McQueen’s runway shows dominated the fashion discussion of the 2000s. It was his world, and we wished we were wearing it.

Open as being deeply disturbed with a propensity towards dark romance, his was the mind behind Gaga’s most shocking red carpet looks, also famously dressing Bjork, Sarah Jessica Parker, and of course, Kate Moss. Whether you hated him, loved him, thought he should be canceled, or he simply just creeped you out, the entire country seemingly took notice and had an opinion.

Benevolent Creative’s new series will be unpacking the artists, musicians, designers, poets, writers, and more who most deeply influenced our team.

“I was fortunate enough to be in New York to see the 2011 McQueen retrospective at the Met. My friend and I lost ourselves, and quite nearly our minds, with ebullience to be amidst the sartorial spectacle. The Met described this exhibition catalog as their top-selling publication to date. My copy was one of 100,000 sold by the time the exhibition closed, and I still find new things to ogle at with each new viewing.”
