13 hours agoI’m going to say something, but before I do I want to clarify ahead of time that I am 100% pro-choice so to anyone reading, hear me out. The “in case of 🍇 or ¡ncest” exception argument isn’t a good argument. Because let’s say that you are trying to change a pro-forced-birther’s mind. You’re talking to someone that believes that personhood starts at conception. They believe a 3 second old zygote should have the same consideration, autonomy, and rights as you or me. Saying “but what if she was 🍇ed?” is like arguing that you should be allowed to shoot a random person because someone else beat you up. And it were true that personhood starts at conception, then from a rational and humane perspective, how that conception happed is actually irrelevant. Which is why it’s a bad argument. But that’s ok because there are much better ones. Refute their “life begins at conception” argument. Life DOESNT begin at conception. Life begins much earlier. On the egg side of a zygote, life begins much earlier than conception. It begins a female baby is growing in utero and her reproductive organs develop. On the sperm side, life begins a few hours before conception. The sperm and egg do not suddenly become more “alive” when they join together. Nothing about either half of a zygote meaningfully change when they join. They are no more sentient, and it’ll be months before either is capable of living outside the dependence of someone else’s body. So drawing the line at conception is completely arbitrary. And convenient for the morons writing aborti0n legislation. Awfully convenient that as soon as it’s in a woman’s body it’s a person, but when several million get shot into a sock, it’s “just a clump of cells.” Sentience and viability ought to be what determines when personhood begins. And that doesn’t happen until the 3rd trimester.
14 hours agoSaying theyre pro life is just a front they use since they cant say they arent entirely against 🍇
20 hours agoAs a pro-choice, I can somewhat see the mindset of a “pro-life” because of like the selfishness and like stupidity and all and I get it, some people are allowed to be stupid and selfish I guess but there’s a 100% a limit to it. This dude ain’t even “pro-life” he’s “pro-control”
a day agoCan we just start calling them pro-fetus already because they've shown again and again that that's all they really are
a day agoA world in which abortion is banned in cases of rape (and especially if birth control is also banned, like what the Trump administration has planned for after the midterms) is a world in which the worst men get to force any woman (or even teenagers) they want to have their kids. The kid she now has becomes a constant reminder of how that kid came to be.
