This was a first for me. I was so excited to work on a worn in purse. A customer brought their Yomahra bag into the studio for a little spa day after using it every single day since they bought it. I had never seen one of my bags with this much wear, so this was a first for me.

The bag had some pretty noticeable water damage, a few rusted eyelets, and a busted zipper. It had also never been cleaned or conditioned, so it was definitely ready for some care.

I started by cleaning it with soapy water, then applied a thin coat of Eco-Flo water-based black leather dye. Next came Bee Natural leather oil, which I let soak into the leather before applying a thin layer of Fiebing’s Atom Wax and buffing it to a shine.

To finish, I applied my in-house-made leather conditioner, formulated with oils and beeswax, working a thin layer into the leather with a good amount of elbow grease.

This bag was one of the first 20 or so bags I ever made, back when I was still hand-stitching them. So I hand-stitched the new zipper, too.

A little cleaning, conditioning, and some repair work later, this bag is ready for many more years of daily use.
