An update from Union Plaza in downtown Honolulu, with footage from October 12, when the latest activity began, and this morning, October 14, 2026. Trash is piled up behind the building, while security remains stationed at the front & back. Both entrances appear secured with chains, padlocks, and reinforced locking hardware. The building has been at the center of an ongoing dispute involving evictions, utility shutoffs, safety concerns, and plans to convert the property into student housing. Former occupants told me they were not shown any paperwork when they were forced to leave and that personal belongings remain inside that they still need to retrieve. I was also told only four people remain in the building, but that has not been confirmed. Questions remain about the removals, access to belongings, and emergency exits. Updates and corrections are welcome.

🌺 KONA, HAWAII | IRONMAN WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 2026 🌺

10 full IRONMANS. My 2nd World Championship in Kona. One very grateful heart. 🇿🇦

There is something truly special about this island. The energy, the elements and the privilege of standing on that start line, surrounded by incredible athletes, all chasing something that means so much to each of us.

I came into race day feeling strong. The swim was incredible even with choppy conditions, coming off the bike, I was excited to see what my body could do as I felt extremely strong.

But at 12km, running up Palani, a sharp pain down the left side of my leg & into my calf changed everything. My marathon became a walk-jog & the race I had imagined became something very different.

Yet, somewhere along that run, I found calm. I let go of the time, the expectations & the result. Instead, I focused on the moment, the incredible people cheering, the beauty of this island & the privilege of being out there.

Of course, there was disappointment. I know what I am capable of & I had hoped for more. But this sport has a beautiful way of reminding you that it is about so much more than the result.

It is about courage, commitment, resilience & discovering who you are when things don’t go to plan. It is about learning to let go, finding gratitude in the difficult moments & having the determination to keep moving forward.

And then, hearing those words as you cross that red carpet:

“LOUISE BENTLEY, YOU ARE AN IRONMAN!” 🩷

A feeling no time, placing or difficult day can ever take away.

I finished the day in the medical tent, dizzy, nauseous and barely able to stand on my left leg. It was a tough reminder of what this sport can ask of us. But what I take away from Kona isn’t the result I didn’t achieve. It’s the calm I found, the gratitude I felt and the reminder of WHY I fell in love with this sport.

My 10th full IRONMAN. My 2nd World Championship in Kona. Another lesson in letting go, trusting the journey and appreciating the privilege of being able to do what we love. 🌺

God is good, all the time. 🙏🏼
